Stepping out in the spotlight, Johnny Depp was on hand to speak during the "West of Memphis" press conference at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday (September 8).

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor sported his usual rocker cool fashions in a layered look that he completed with purple sunglasses.

While talking to press at the festival, the 49-year-old actor explained that he was there in support and not there as the center of attention, explaining, "I'm here ... as a friend. I'm here to support my friends and to attain the proper definition of justice for all."

"West of Memphis" focuses on three teenagers who were arrested for the murder of three 8-year-old children. After serving 18 years in prison, the film focuses on a man who is the suspected real killer.

When talking about the film, Johnny said, "Something like this, this is the road to total exoneration and that's what needs to be."

"West of Memphis" is set to release in the U.S. on Christmas Day.
