Ruffling the feathers of loyal Penn State grads, ICM Partners has bought the rights to turn Joe Posnanski's biography "Paterno" into a movie.
Legendary actor Al Pacino is already attached to play the legendary coach. The "Godfather" actor's manager, Rick Nicita, will produce the film.
The author of the New York Times' bestseller had spent a year working on the book when the sex abuse scandal broke.
Paterno's reputation was forever tarnished when it was revealed that his former defensive coordinator, Jerry Sandusky, had used his access at Penn State to abuse children and Paterno helped hide the discovery.
The movie will follow the biography's arc, taking the audience from Paterno's life before Penn State, his years holding power over football and politics at the school, and his sudden downfall. However, a script has not yet been written and no director is attached to the project yet.
